  1. To me there will always be people on either side of an issue. I feel like during this time it was the country was split in half over what they wanted. That doesn’t mean that people didn’t want slavery banned it just meant that there were those who still were ether ignorant to human rights from there upbringing or just plan didn’t care. Even today there are still a small amount of people who believe in slavery and will threaten, hurt, and even kill people still to try to get there way.

  2. Some did, most didn't at the time of la amastad. Or most Southern rather. They truly believed they had so much more over the africans. Which ever the answer, there are still people of today who live in the mentality that was almost set in stone of the black people, that they are "inferior" "undeserving" etc. It's not right. I have even found in some cases where blacks aren't encouraged to move away from the negative titles placed on them simply because they were the unknown. From my point of view, blacks seem to have the worst in society when slavery was negated on them and long after, it seems that they are still brought down. We may have rights but no freedom, if you know what I mean.

  3. i think that europeans didnt want the slave trade to end because they thought it was in their best intrest to wipe out a whole race that was once greater than europe because they were having a ression and i think that it was bad, i also think that its not right to force other people to work so you can get rich without lifting a finger.

  4. I personally think that the Europeans didn't really want to end the slave trade seeing that they were indeed getting things out of it without even having to work a sweat which is why they enslaved africans for them to get the jobs done for them. But then again no one has the right to take control of another human being.
by all means, it could of been a 50/50 situation towards the whole wanting to continue slaving africans or wanting to end it.

  5. I don't think the Europeans really wanted to end slavery because they got their daily routines done for them. Although I know they're were some activists in the North that believed slavery was wrong in their hearts but that feeling didn't end slavery completely. They didn't see no harm in keeping the slaves to begin with so why stop right? So then came along Lincoln, and obviously I'm not surprised why he got assassinated. When someone iconic comes along and does something right for their people, there are always people who rebel and take the issue violently. History seems to repeat itself.

  6. why would they want to? they did this for themselves didn't they? they wanted a global checkmate. They didn't see the world as most of us do now. As prideful as the Europeans were they would stop at nothing for prosperity, and wanted the world to follow thier image... however in this situation as we knew they felt the african people were inferior and a subordinate part of thier world people or not.

Nothing more then what they would do with cattle right? If they make money off what they do why would they stop. Im sure brotherly ethics and conscience wasn't their priority. Again, not all Europeans thought in such ill demeanor.

  7. There were obviously people who wanted slavery to end, take the abolitionists that were in the movie La Amistad for example. And alongside the abolitionists there were those who relied on slavery, without slavery they would lose revenue. The people who were benefitting from slavery didn't want it to end. Those who were not benefitting from slavery or those who were against the exploitation of people were the opposing group who wanted slavery to end.

  8. If the Europeans felt that the enslavement of Africans would have been profitable they wouldn't have stopped. The Industrial Revolution made slaves obsolete in a way since the machines could do the work of a slave at a quicker pace. Also I believe that the pressure from abolishers it made enslavement frown upon.

  9. The thought of ending slavery to a whole of Europe was a thought to nurture. They probably never thought for a second we should end this, because we are profiting to a whole 'nother level, we are becoming a power house to all these other measly little areas, nothing compares to us. If they wanted it to stop, they could've easily done it! The Triangular trade started and ended with them, so they could've easily pressed the RED button and ended it (not literally that easy).. and as to what Nadia said, why would they stop, if all they have to do is sit back, tell people what to do.. and make money from it?!
