  1. President lincoln did a great significant act that should be respected by all who don't agree with slavery. But what i think the most significant events are the revolts that enslaved and free africans were performing and not allowing themselves to be overthrown by white supremacy. GABRIEL PROSSER , VESEY, AND NAT TURNER all played a significant role during the civil war.

  2. i think that abraham lincoln did a big part to end slavery by making the confederracy in the deep south where most slavery was happening and he also isseued the emancipation proclamation or the freeing of slaves within the confederate states

  3. I would have to say President Abraham Lincoln. I say that because he was from the north of the united states which were less strict on abolishing slavery. Meanwhile, the South was where most of the slavery was taking place in. The South said if Lincoln won the southern states would form confederate states of their own. So the south had battles with the north and were rebelling. After that he abolished slavery. If It wasn't for him people would have waited a longer time for it to end. So he is an icon during that time and the rest of the history of the united states.

  4. I think Nat Turner who was an enslaved african american preacher organized one of the most significant events he had a bunch of followers who launched a short rebellion in southampton county virginia but the result of it got turner hanged.

  5. Harriet Tubman was the most significant person during the outbreak of the civil war because she gave hope to the enslaved Africans to have freedom once again by bringing Africans from the south to the north (Canada) where there was no slavery.

  6. I believe that Nat Turner was the most significant person that contributed to the outbreak of Civil War because he lead the most significant slave uprising in American History, it was a short bloody rebellion in Virginia and ended in the capture of Nat Turner. His actions resolted in a chain reaction of rebellion in the united states

  7. I agree with the majority of the above posts, Nat Turner's rebellion in 1831 was not only one of the most famous African American revolts but it was a very significant event that contributed a heavy weight to the outbreak of civil war in the US.
However in 1863 when President Lincoln declared the Emancipation Proclamation he targeted the main issue to end slavery and that caused a major change.

  8. I personally think Abraham Lincoln had a major role, when he declared the Emancipation Proclamation he ended slavery It proclaimed the freedom of 3.1 million of the nation's 4 million slaves, and immediately freed 50,000 of them, The proclamation did not cover the 800,000 slaves in the slave-holding border states of Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland or Delaware, which were Union states; slaves there were freed by separate state and federal actions.
